WILDERNESS CANOE TRIP
Guided Weekend
Explore the Manitoba wilderness the way it is meant to be: by canoe and through the lens of your camera. Join PrairieView instructor and experienced backcountry wilderness photographer Jonah O'Neil and the Northern Soul Wilderness Adventure's certified canoe guide David Pancoe on a two-night/three day canoe trip into one of the most beautiful landscapes around: the Canadian Shield and boreal forest of Whiteshell Provincial Park.
The course includes pre-trip and post-trip classroom sessions, meals, the use of a tent, and tons of wilderness photography instruction before and during the trip.
Q. What camera and camping gear do I need to bring?
A. For cameras, we'd recommend a telephoto lens for wildlife, a wide-angle for landscapes, and maybe a macro for close-ups. Be sure to have spare batteries, memory cards or film, and some sort of rain sleeve. A sturdy lightweight tripod is a great addition.
For camping, we'll supply the canoe, meals, tent, and a dry bag while you are responsible for any other items for camping (sleeping bag, camp matress, clothing, etc.). Rentals are available through Northern Soul.
Q. Do I need canoeing experience?
A. Although some experience in a canoe would be good, this trip is designed for paddlers of all skill levels.
